Tel Chadid

Exit right from Route 444, north of junction with Route 443
Last Updated: over 2 weeks ago

Antiquities site in the heart of the Ben Shemen Forest. The Tel is surrounded by groves of olive trees of impressive ages, dotted with wild prickly pear cactuses.

The grove covers around 1000 dunams and along its trails are the remains of ancient olive and wine presses. Earthenware shards from the iron age can be found on the ground.

Researchers estimate the Tel was a walled city up to the days of Yehoshua Bin Nun, and was at it’s prime in the period of the Judean kingdom.

At the top of the hill there is a panoramic view of the Judean plains, Gush Dan and the coast.

The site includes many picnic areas and play areas for children.
