Modiin – The Continuing Story: Past Present and also Future. A series of 3 lectures and a city tour, in English, led by Alex Weinreb, the Modiin expert.
March 18, 2025: Story of a Glorious Past
Modiin from the Days of the Maccabees until the beginning of Zionism. We will examine where ancient Modiin is located, where the Maccabees lived and worked, and where they are buried, by use of historic literature, ancient maps, pilgrim’s descriptions, and other means.
March 25, 2025: The Story Beyond the Present
We will look at and reveal various opinions and theories about the location of ancient Modiin and the Maccabean graves according to archaeological excavations that have been taking place since 1948 until the present day. We will also show how the city planners envisioned Modiin and what actually is built and what has yet to be built in the first stage of modern Modiin.
April 1, 2025: Where does the story continue?
The plans for Modiin’s future - the second and final stage of modern Modiin.
The guided city tour, in cars, will take place on Friday 4th April between 09:00-12:00.
