27/12-30/12 : Back to the Land of the Hasmoneans at Neot Kedumim - Chanukah 2016

Route 443, between Modiin and Route 1

Come and join Judah the Maccabee's people for one day in their preparations for the revolt, and turn from simple farmers into brave warriors in an effort to regain independence and the freedom to go back to cultivating their land.

One fine day, the residents of the village of Modiin received an order from King Antiochus forbidding them from maintaining their customs and Mitzvot and uprooting their routines - immediately a rebellion broke out, changing the lives of the local farmers.

Visitors will join the local residents and together with them will leave the active barn and enter a cave hideaway - in order to understand the method of combating the Greeks, produce oil from the ancient oil press operated by a donkey, visit the potter and get tips on her work, create their own clay lamps, meet a Maccabean soldier who will tell his story and test the visitors' intelligence-gathering capabilities with riddles, and will provide an ancient Hebrew coin for the rest of the journey.

At the end of the tour, the visitors will enter an exhibition of candles and oils from the ancient period and listen to a fascinating explanation on the use of candles in everyday life and on Shabbat and Chagim.
