Chanukah 2024 Family Tours in Hebrew & English at Neot Kedumim

Route 443, between Modiin and Route 1
Last Updated: 8 days ago

Special daytime and evening Chanukah tours for the whole family.

"Kulanu Or Eitan" Daytime Family Tours

Neot Kedumim is located in the heart of the Modiin area - the ancient home of the Hasmoneans. Here on one of the hills, two thousand years ago, was the village where Mattityahu and his sons lived, and from here the call rose up to revolt against the Greeks.

**Tours in ENGLISH on Monday 30/12/24 and Wednesday 1/1/25 at 12:00.

Please note! Hebrew and English tours are separate. Please take care to sign up accordingly.

In honor of Chanukah, there will be tours for the whole family, during which you will hear the stories of the Maccabees and the miracle of the jug of oil, and enjoy unique activities and fascinating explanations.

The tour passes through stations and activities that teach about the Hasmoneans' way of life: why did they go to such great lengths to produce olive oil and what were its various uses, what other oils were used for the household lamps, and where did the best olive oil come from to light the Menorah in the Beit HaMikdash.

The tour includes:

  • Visiting a dark cave - where you will hear fascinating and heroic stories about the Hasmoneans
  • Tour among the fresh olive groves and a visit to an active olive press
  • Minting a victory coin like the one minted by the Maccabees
  • Crafts and oil candle making
  • Dress up area with costumes from Hasmonean times

Was there even "winter time" in ancient times? Did children go to bed in the dark? How did they light their home without electricity?

On a tour for the whole family, hear about the first man and his fear of the dark, discover which tree was the main electricity supplier, make a unique oil candle, learn about the heroism of the Maccabees and walk with lanterns in starlight and the light in our hearts!

Warm clothing recommended.
