Te'imot MeHaTeva Summer 2023 - Guided Family Tour & Outdoor Cooking Experience at Neot Kedumim

Neot Kdumim, Route 443, between Modiin and Route 1 (see map)
Last Updated: over 2 weeks ago

What did ancient Israelite families eat in the summer? How did they keep food fresh without a refrigerator and preservatives? And how did they know how to prepare food from all parts of the plant, without discarding any of it?

There are no recipes in the Tanach, and the Israelites did not have coffee carts waiting for them along the road, but they had unique and delicious foods that could be prepared in every home.

In the past, the inhabitants of Israel would not discard anything, and in their wisdom knew how to use every part of the food they grew: sour milk turned into yogurt leben, fruit dried in the sun, and each family used exactly the amount of food they needed.

During the evening family tour, you will learn about the world of shepherds and farmers - what did they grow and what did they eat? Walking among the crops of the seven species, collecting the herbs and fruits of the season, grinding wheat kernels into flour, meeting sheep herds and also finding out what was the children's favorite snack, and which provisions they took when they went for a hike.

So that your stomachs won't remain empty, along the route you will make cheese, toast wheat kernels and crush spices.
