As a result of the war and state of emergency, the municipality is expanding the municipal volunteer units in a variety of areas, that will be called to respond based on the needs that arise in the city.
Emergency volunteer unit
General volunteer unit, for all residents, both those with certification in relevant fields (including medical professionals) and those who do not have certification in specific emergency fields but are able and willing to help.
The unit's needs include:
- Assistance to senior citizens and families with special needs
- Transportation and deliveries within the city
- Sorting and packing food and equipment
- Shopping and picking up groceries
- Activities for children and youth
- Speakers fluent in a variety of languages
- Various levels of assistance in the field of medicine
- Professionals in various fields (framers, welders, professional drivers and more)
Mishmar HaIr (City Patrol)
Volunteer unit whose purpose is to assist the security forces operating in the city to increase presence on the streets, to create an effective deterrent, and to strengthen security by setting up roadblocks at the entrances to the city, as well as patrols and other tasks.
Open to residents over the age of 18 with a gun license (preference is given those who own personal weapons). Volunteers will be called based on needs that come due to the fighting.
Kitat Konenut within the Home Front Command
Organization intended for residents who are defined by the IDF as soldiers in active reserve service and are not expected to be called up for conscription, but are interested in enlisting for active reserve service as part of the Home Front Command here in the city.
